South Side Roller Derby Presents: Holly Jolly Banked Track - 8 on 8 Tournament

Our mission is to create an environment that celebrates and supports established leagues. This tournament is a pivotal initiative to reclaim and grow roller derby leagues, offering skaters the opportunity to compete with their home team, rather than a mix of individuals from various leagues.

Tournament Details

Format: 8v8 Banked Track Tournament

When:

  • Friday, December 5th: Banked track set-up begins at 11:00 AM. A schedule for practices and workshops will be posted, with sessions running from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

  • Tournament Day: Saturday, December 6th, starting at 9:00 AM.

Where: Campbell Hall, 7601 Red Bluff Rd., Pasadena, TX 77505

Rule-set: The tournament will follow the World Skate Roller Derby Rules, also known as the rule set used by USA Roller Sports (USARS). Please ensure you are familiar with the differences between your home league's rule set (e.g., WFTDA) and World Skate.

Games:
  • 10-minute games with a rolling clock.

  • Four penalties lead to a foul out.

  • Double elimination format—each team is guaranteed two games.

Roster: Each team may bring a maximum of 11 skaters, 8 active players, and 2 bench coaches per game.

Registration Fee: $200 per team, due upon acceptance of invitation and signing of contracts/code of conduct. Each team must bring 2 skating refs and 2 NSOs.

Eligibility and Team Registration

This event is open exclusively to roller derby leagues. We are dedicated to fostering the growth of the sport by supporting skaters committed to their home leagues. All skaters on a team must practice together at the same location, and cannot be part of a "super team" or reside in different areas globally also known as "satellite skaters

To register your league's team, please fill out the interest form below. Provide your captain's/contact information, team name, and potential bracket assignment. Full rosters are due by October 11th.

Divisions

We offer three divisions based on skill level:

  • Advanced: This is our heavy-hitting bracket for teams bringing their A/AA players. If you seek high-level banked track women’s roller derby, this is your bracket. Refer to the SSRD Skills Assessment for level 4.

  • Intermediate: Matches the skill level commonly seen in most Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) league home team games. Refer to the SSRD
    Skills Assessment for level 3.

  • Beginner: Designed for teams that have never been on a banked track but are at an intermediate level of flat track play. Refer to the SSRD Skills Assessment for level 2.

  • Girl's Junior Teams (ages 7-13)

  • Boys Junior Teams (ages 7-13)
  • Women's Teams (ages 14 & Up)
  • Men's Teams (ages 14 & Up)

Volunteer Information

We are seeking volunteers to help make this event a success.
We need announcers, medics, photographers, referees, and non-skating officials.
